⚠️ Flood alert for Upper Stour and tributaries.

We have received the following message from the Environment Agency:
Flooding is possible in locations near the Upper Dorset Stour, Shreen Water tributaries between Gillingham and Sturminster Newton.
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers. Further rainfall is expected this evening and overnight tonight, which could cause river levels to rise.
Flooding is possible.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Consider activating any flood protection products you may have and avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

⛔ Footbridge Closure - Buckingham Road to Chantry ⛔
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended. All users will be prohibited from proceeding along Buckingham Road To Chantry Fields - Footpath, Gillingham. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to users.
The work is programmed for four weeks, commencing on 19 January 2026.
During this time, the bridge will be closed to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no night-time or weekend access permitted.
