Remembrance Sunday
8th November 2020 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Please stay home and pay your respects this Remembrance Sunday
November 8th marks Remembrance Sunday and this year will be unlike any we have remembered before.
Due to Covid-19 and the current government guidelines the parade will not take place in Gillingham this year; this is to ensure that everyone is kept safe in line with government guidelines. As such Gillingham Town Council and the Royal British Legion RBL Gillingham Branch, is asking that as a mark of respect, people who would normally come to pay their respects stay home this year.
Gillingham Town Council and RBL Gillingham will instead conduct wreath laying on the town’s behalf, with the Mayor and a representative of the RBL after a two-minute silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday.
As a mark of respect, you may wish to stand on your doorstep for two minutes silence at 11am. Representatives from Gillingham groups and organisations are invited to lay a wreath on the afternoon of Sunday 8th November in accordance with government guidelines.
